Kids Who Care: Students’ projects hope to handle pressure at bridge-building competition

Students who participated Feb. 24 in the 34th annual Engineers Week Bridge Building Contest on the campus of Purdue University Fort Wayne received a second round of local news coverage on FOX 55 via its Kids Who Care segment.  

The competition tested the strength of more than 50 bridges built by area middle and high school students. Participants were asked to design the lightest possible bridge to span a gap with minimal deflection, and what they built was loaded until failure.
