Key areas at PFW to remain open to serve the needs of students during Winter Break
FORT WAYNE, Ind.—While the pace on most college campuses slows down significantly during the holiday season, several service areas at Purdue University Fort Wayne will remain open to students and families who are looking to make progress on their college checklist over the winter break.
In addition to University Police and Student Housing, whose services will continue uninterrupted during this time frame, other key student services areas at Purdue Fort Wayne that will be open include:
- Admissions—December 30–31, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Financial Aid—December 30–31, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Student Success and Transitions—December 30–31, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Testing Services—December 30–31, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Anyone looking to access these specific services during the dates listed above is asked to visit the Kettler Hall welcome desk, which is located inside exterior door number 1, where they will be directed to the appropriate area of the building. Kettler Hall’s exterior door number 11 is a barrier-free entrance located on the east side of the building. It will also be open.
Additionally, the following departments will offer winter break access in their usual locations on campus:
- Mastodon Campus Store—December 23–24, 11 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Student Housing Clubhouse—December 23–31, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.; closed December 25 and January 1
- Development Office—December 30–31, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Gates Fitness Center—December 30–31, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
“Our commitment to finding ways to best serve the Purdue Fort Wayne community includes offering as much accessibility as possible to current and future students,” said Ron Elsenbaumer, chancellor of Purdue Fort Wayne. “We’re fortunate to have university staff and faculty who understand how important it is to maintain that level of support year-round.”

Other than the areas identified above, campus-wide building access will close on December 22 at 11 p.m. and reopen on January 2 at 7 a.m. Those seeking to enter locked areas will need to make sure their official university IDs are current and possess approved access.
