Purdue University Fort Wayne to Celebrate 2019 Commencement Ceremony
FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Purdue University Fort Wayne will hold its first commencement ceremony under its new name on Wednesday, May 8, at 4:30 p.m., in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The ceremony will serve as a joint commencement exercise with Indiana University Fort Wayne.
Although this is the inaugural commencement for each institution following the realignment in July 2018, it represents the 52nd-annual combined commencement for both universities in Fort Wayne.
Approximately 1,642 students are eligible to receive 1,743 degrees or certificates.
Purdue Fort Wayne Chancellor Ronald L. Elsenbaumer will preside over the ceremony, and Lorenzo Suter, CEO of Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne, will deliver the commencement address.
“This is my most favorite day of the year,” says Chancellor Elsenbaumer. “It is so rewarding to share this important milestone with our graduates, their families, and their friends. We look forward to the impact our newest alumni will have as they build successful careers and become the next generation of leaders.”
Following the ceremony, the newly minted alumni are invited to attend the Graduation Celebration in the Expo Rooms 2 and 3. This will provide an opportunity for graduates to gather with family and friends, enjoy refreshments, and take selfies at two selfie stations. The party is hosted by the Office of Academic Affairs, the Student Government Association, and the Mastodon Alumni Association.
