Purdue Information Technology provides so many different technology spaces for all Mastodons. Bring your designs to life in the Mastodon MAKERLab, spark an idea in Studio M, or get to work in a computer lab.
TechHub
Collaboration at its techiest.
Our TechHub brings Studio M, the Mastodon MAKERLab, and esports together. Studio M delivers consultations, services, and resources to help students, faculty, and staff produce audio-visual content. The Mastodon MAKERLab is all about bringing 3D printing to campus. The esports arena is an open gaming lab for all PFW students, faculty, and staff Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Some services are offered directly, and some are in close partnerships with other service groups throughout the university.
Open Computer Labs
Access the technology you need when you need it.
The open computer labs are a great place to get work done. Each open lab’s hours and capabilities differ, but all are available for you to study, check email, and print. No check-in is needed, just walk in and find an open computer. You can send documents to lab printers with WebPrint and grab them on your way to class.

Student consultants are available in many open labs to help students in a variety of ways:
- Logging on and off the network, and accessing Blackboard, email, and more
- Opening and closing network applications
- How-tos of software applications (e.g., double-space a paper)
- The use of lab printers and scanners and in troubleshooting equipment or operating-system problems
Consultants will not do the students’ work for them and cannot teach students the various software assist.
- No food or drink is allowed.
- Facilities are to be used by Purdue Fort Wayne students for tasks related to their university responsibilities only.
- Children of students are not permitted to use student lab computers.
- Please respect others in the lab and talk in a low level.
- The entire Walb Union, Room 221, computer lab is designated for group study. To provide further group study space, there are five computer workstations located on the second floor, and nine on the fourth floor of Helmke Library.
- You are to provide your own USB flash drive to save files.
- Don’t wait to until the last minute to do your assignments in the labs; they are sure to be full or closed when you do.
- Feel free to ask someone playing games in a crowded lab to quit and give up their machine so that you can work on your assignments; if you are uncomfortable with this, ask the consultant to help.
- Please keep the station clean when you leave it; if someone has left a mess at the PC or the keyboard or mouse is dirty, alert the lab consultant on duty.
- Do not save files to the C drive on the lab machines; if you forget them, they may not be there when you get back. Always save to a flash disk or your I drive.
- Copy any files you are updating frequently.
- Make duplicate copies of your files to another location.
- Label your storage media with your name and email address.
- Don’t forget to sign out the lab stations; otherwise, someone else can cause damage, and in this situation you will be held accountable.
- WebPrint is a service that allows students to print documents from anywhere using PaperCut, a web-based application. The document explains the steps to log into PaperCut, select a printer, enter the number of copies, upload a document, and pick up the print out.

High-Tech Classrooms
Turning education high tech.
Purdue IT maintains and supports Windows computers and audio-visual equipment in many classrooms on campus. Some classroom equipment is controlled via a touch panel, while older-style stations require the use of several remote controls for each component (DVD, VCR, projector, etc.), and others have only a projector.
If you are a faculty member, we recommend that you visit the room you are using prior to teaching in order to familiarize yourself with the equipment.
