Funding your Future

The Office of Major Scholarship Advising is here to assist you with your efforts to apply for nationally competitive scholarships for travel, study, and internship opportunities.

Opportunities for success.

It’s important to seek out and apply for the right scholarship that fits your needs and goals, as some major scholarships cover specific subjects and fields of study, while others support student travel and some include an internship. Remember, these major scholarships are highly competitive and application reviewers and awarding bodies are searching for the very best, so you have to make sure that you shine.

Start with extracurriculars.

Long before you apply for a major scholarship, you will want to get involved with extracurricular activities that give you valuable professional experience, reflect your values, and adhere to your goals. Whether. you choose to volunteer in the community, work for a political candidate, or lead a student organization, do things that genuinely interest you. Favor fewer and more meaningful experiences, rather than merely participating in numerous activities.

Before you begin your scholarship applications, make a list of the organizations you dedicated time to and the roles and responsibilities you had in those organizations. Reviewers will want to see that you have a record of dedicated service that reflects consistent values.
