An annual update on Purdue University Fort Wayne’s strategic aspiration to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion is scheduled for Oct. 25 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the International Ballroom at Walb Student Union. The Diversity Experience, hosted by Chief Diversity Officer MarTeze Hammonds, will include presentations from DEI, TRIO Student Support Services, The Women’s Center, The Q Center, The Multicultural Center, and TRIO Upward Bound.
What the event truly does, Hammonds said, is allow those on and off campus to see how the university is working toward the goal of creating an environment that creates a sense of belonging and inclusion.
“DEI is everyone’s responsibility, and we all should come together and celebrate our achievements and have a better understanding and focus for where we want to go,” Hammonds said.
Along with an address from Chancellor Ron Elsenbaumer, the event includes performances by students in PFW’s School of Music and food. Reservations can be made by emailing [email protected].
In addition to discussions focusing on recruitment, retention, graduation, and accountability, there will also be information tables from various campus groups for those wishing to learn more.
