PFW Story

New VPA website ushers in next phase of digital transformation at PFW

Not even two full weeks removed from the exciting launch of Purdue Fort Wayne’s new website on January 19, the first redesigned and redeployed site for a specific college was unveiled early this morning. The new College of Visual and Performing Arts website is now live and ready for visitors. It’s the first of many more changes in store for PFW college and school sites.

“We are thrilled to be launching our new website as it has been a strong team effort to get to this point and we know all the hard work will help bring into greater focus our available college resources and activities for both current and future Dons,” said John O’Connell, dean, College of Visual and Performing Arts. “The more appealing we are at telling the Purdue Fort Wayne story at the college and university levels, the more connected we become with prospective members of our campus community and those who are already part of the Herd.”

From top to bottom, the new VPA website features exciting new content that offers visitors a closer look at the Department of Art and Design, the School of Music, and the Department of Theatre, and more. This is truly what the intersection of creativity, academic opportunity, faculty expertise, and student achievement looks like.

The initial launch on the updated PFW website on January 19 included top-level university pages, the home page, landing and audience pages, new features, enhanced navigation, and streamlined templates.

Among the new features introduced was a program finder that provides both potential and existing students with a user-friendly search tool to help them learn about all academic offerings. A completely reenvisioned events calendar also creates a new environment for featuring a wide variety of university activities—and also completes one of the top priorities identified by the Quality of Place Action Planning Team during the university’s strategic planning process. And capping off the first chapter of the multi-phase rollout was a reimagined News Center that serves as the hub for telling the multitude of diverse stories about Purdue Fort Wayne’s students, faculty, and staff.

Throughout the website’s ongoing redesign process, the Office of Communications and Marketing has been committed to creating a first-rate site driven by a comprehensive content strategy that is focused squarely on the student experience. The new site, which will continue to evolve, is designed within the refreshed Purdue Fort Wayne brand that was introduced in fall 2020 and also aligns directly with the Purdue University brand.

All updates to the college and school sites are expected to be completed in May.
