ARMY ROTC SCHOLARSHIP Program

Funds for your future.

This program provides you with financial assistance for your education and training if your goal is to be commissioned as an officer in the Army after college graduation. 

Scholarship Details: 100 percent tuition and mandatory fees; $1,200 book allowance per academic year 

Monthly Stipend: $420 while you are attending class (based on academic status)

Four- and three-year scholarships are available to high school students.

REQUIREMENTS and Obligations

What you need to know.

To qualify for an ROTC scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a US citizen
  • Be between the ages of 17 and 26
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Be medically qualified through the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board
  • Be able to pass a physical fitness test

Your Obligations
You must serve a total of eight years in the military upon college graduation. You can satisfy this obligation in any of the following ways:

  • Serve four years on active duty and four years on reserve duty (active Army Reserve or Army National Guard or inactive ready reserve)
  • Serve more than four years on active duty and complete the remaining years on reserve forces duty or inactive ready reserve
  • Serve all eight years on active duty
  • Serve six years on reserve forces duty and two years of inactive ready reserve

Two-year Scholarships

Help for becoming an officer.

If you want to become an officer the Army Reserve (AR) or Army National Guard (ARNG), you may qualify for the Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty or Dedicated Army National Guard Scholarship. 

To qualify, you  must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a member of the AR or ARNG
  • Participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program as a cadet. 
  • Be a junior with four or five semesters left before graduation

Apply for this scholarship during the spring semester of your sophomore year. Scholarships are competitive.

Benefits

It pays to be a leader.

Even if you participate in ROTC without a scholarship, you will receive the ROTC stipend benefits during your junior and senior year once you are contracted. As a member of the Army Reserve or Army National Guard, you are required to participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program, which will also entitle you to receive additional financial benefits through the Army Reserve or Army National Guard while completing your degree.
