content cards

Guidelines

Usage
  • Use the Intro block, a WYSIWYG editor, to label and contextualize this group of cards for the user.
  • You can add three types of cards: “College or School,” “Department,” or “Custom.
  • “College or School” and “Department” are essentially the same. After adding one to the module, use the autofill field to search for the name of the College or Department you’re looking for, and click it when it shows up. This will fill out the card for you.
  • “Custom” is the manual option. Fill out the Card Title, add an image to it, and fill out the Card Link information. Adding a Card Eyebrow above the title is optional, but the rest of the fields are required.

Character Limits

  • Card Eyebrow: 25
  • Card Title: 40
  • Link Text: 25
Best Practices
  • Images are necessary for these cards to look good. If you need a grid of links without images, see other kinds of cards below, or the modules on the Grids page.
    • The images display with a thin crop when on these cards, so make sure to choose accordingly, and be sure to test how it looks before you move on.
  • In the Settings tab, you can choose between Grid and Slider. Grid is default, and means that the cards will keep stacking in rows. Slider means that after three cards, the others will be hidden in a carousel that must be clicked to slide. Either of these options is fine in most cases. With a number like four, it’s better to use the slider, because it will look a bit awkward in the grid. It’s also better to switch to the slider if the module is getting too tall with too many cards.
  • Checking the Show Paw Prints box in the Settings tab is often a nice visual touch for this module.

Guidelines

Usage
  • Fill out the Title field with the title of the row of cards.
  • Click Add Content Card to add another card to the current row, up to a maximum of three, and click Add Content Cards - Repeater Item to add another row of cards beneath the current one, with a new title.
  • Fill out each card with a Card Title, Card Copy, and optional Card Link.

Character Limits

  • Row Title: 25
  • Card Title: 25
  • Card Copy: 125
  • Card Title and Card Copy: these fields are additive. If one is long, the other should be short, or else the card will be too long.
Best Practices
  • The advantages of this module over the other card modules, are:
    • It doesn’t require images, like the above module does
    • It has space for body copy in addition to a title
  • Don’t make copy on one card much longer than the others. Be consistent, or else the card sizes will look very unbalanced.
  • Although links are optional, if one card in the module has a link, then all of them probably should. It’s better to be consistent, or the user might miss the one card that’s clickable.

content Cards - Slider

Guidelines

Usage
  • Use the Title to label this group of cards.
  • Add another card using the Add Content Card button, and for each, fill out the Card Title and Card Copy fields. Card Link is optional.
Character Limits
  • Title: 25
  • Card Title: 25
  • Card Copy: 125
  • Card Title and Card Copy: These fields are additive. If one is long, the other should be short, or else the card will be too long.
Best Practices
  • This module is very similar to the one above. See those guidelines. Use the Slider instead of the Repeater when you don’t want to label each row individually, and all your cards fit in one group.
  • It’s especially important in this version not to make one card longer than the others. Even cards that are currently hidden in the slider off-screen affect this.

Cards - Links

Guidelines

Usage
  • Fill out the Title field with the label for your first card, which is your first group of links.
  • Click Add Another Item to add another link to your current card, and fill out each link with a URL and Link Text.
  • To add another Card/group of links, click Add Content Cards - Link Blocks.
 Character Limits
  • Card Title: 30
  • Link Text: 50
Best Practices
  • This isn’t a commonly used module, but if there are a lot of resources for students, such as documents or external links that need to be listed, this is perfect.
  • Don’t add too many links to one card. If you have a lot of links and are not sure how to divide them into separate groups, consider using a different module.
  • Make sure your Link Text is very descriptive. These links should not be like other CTA buttons on the site that just say “Learn More.
